Geguritan or Java poetry is one of Java belleslettres. Geguritan written to spill the contents of minds, feelings, or emotion that related to the situation around the author, or the situation of the public, or the ideas of the author.
The characteristic of traditional geguritan :
a. begins with the word "sun gegurit"
b. total syllables in each line is same
c. the fall of the voice at the end line is same
The characteristic of modern geguritan :
a. not begins with the word "sun gegurit"
b. total line is not attended
c. the fall of the voice at the end line is not attended
d. emphasize at the selection words
